- Look at heart rate, blood pressure, pupils and temperature first!
HypOtension + Increase HR, Dilated Pupils + QRS Long, Sedation –> TCA overdoas (also has sedation)
- hypotension - A1bock
- sedation: H1 block
- seizures: GABA A release block
HypERtension + Sweating –> Cocain Overdose
- NE excess
- seizures
- tachycardia
- sympathomimmetic
Hypertension, Dilated Pupils –> Opiod withdrawal
Hyperreflexia, clonus –> Serotonin Syndrome,
- Hypertension, Hyperthermia
- agitation
- diaphoresis
- (no action in the eyes)
Substances that affect Heart rate and blood pressure
Hypotension
- TCA Overdose (high HR) with Cardiac arrythmias, VT or Long QT syndrome
HypErtension
- Cocain Overdose with/ Sympathomimmetic actions - seizures, tachy, diaphoresis
- opioid withdrawal with/ GI
- Serotonin Sydrome
