A type 3 secretion system, or T3SS, is a mechanism used by various organisms (Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli, Pseudomonas, Yersinia, and more) to aid in invasion or killing of host cells. None of these organisms are gram-negative coccobacilli which grow on chocolate agar but not blood agar.
