Axillary nerve (C5-C6) injury most commonly occurs from a fracture at the surgical neck of the humerus but can also be associated with anterior dislocation of the shoulder. Patients present with paresthesia and/or paralysis of the deltoid muscle and decreased abduction of the shoulder (>15%).
