Goodpasture syndrome. Goodpasture syndrome is an idiopathic autoimmune disease in which anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibodies target the non-collagenous domain of the α3 chain of type IV collagen in the GBM. Symptoms: hemoptysis, an elevated blood pressure, and a urinalysis significant for proteinuria, dysmorphic red blood cells (RBC), leukocytes and granular/RBC casts. Tx: Plasmapheresis, prednisone, and cyclophosphamide.
