The Superficial & deep inguinal rings are physiologic openings in the external abdominal oblique aponeurosis & the transverse fascia, respectively. Surgical repair of an undescended testicle lodged in the inguinal canal involves moving the testes through the superficial inguinal ring & fixing it in the scrotum.
