Trigeminal Neuralgia Tx: carbamazepine. MOA: Inhibits neuronal high frequency firing by reducing the ability of sodium channels to recover from inactivation. Adverse effects: 1) Bone marrow suppression which may lead to thrombocytopenia (monitor CBC), 2) SIADH hormone secretion leading to hyponatremia.
