Temporal arteritis – medium- and large-vessel arteritis, aka giant cell vasculitis. Generally in elderly women 65+ years. Features: headache with scalp tenderness, craniofacial pain syndrome (jaw claudication, tongue claudication, facial pain, especially when chewing), polymyalgia rheumatica (neck, torso, shoulder, pelvic girdle pain & morning stiffness in about 50% of pts), and sudden vision loss (transient or permanent).
