The internal oblique abdominal muscle runs from the inguinal ligament and the iliac crest upward and medially to the linea alba, and superiorly on the borders of the lower three ribs. It is the embryological source of the cremasteric muscle, which lifts the testicles closer to the body. The cremasteric reflex of testicular lift is elicited by stroking the inner thigh. This reflex is absent in testicular torsion
