Dry eyes, fever, confusion, facial flushing and dilated pupils are all adverse effects seen with TCAs. Some examples of TCAs include amitriptyline, nortriptyline, and imipramine. Tricyclic antidepressants have many adverse side effects, including anticholinergic effects this patient is experiencing. Atropine is an anticholinergic medication with similar adverse effects.
