Diluted plasma, hyponatremia, and inappropriately concentrated urine are suggestive of SIADH. SIADH involves secretion of excessive quantities of ADH (vasopressin) from the posterior pituitary. There are many etiologies, including ectopic production by a neoplasm, drug-associated SIADH, and head trauma.
