Rubella is a mild, self-limited illness in adults and manifests with a maculopapular rash which begins on the face and spreads down the body. Often, the rash is accompanied by nonspecific symptoms of fever, arthralgias, and lymphadenopathy. It is one of the ToRCHeS organisms (Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpesvirus/HIV, and Syphilis) that can cross the placenta and cause congenital disease
