Transposons, found in bacteria, are “jump” genes that can excise themselves from one location and reinsert elsewhere (ie, plasmid to chromosome). They contribute to antibiotic resistance by facilitating transfer of genes between organisms. They are not non-coding, repetitive sequences at the ends of DNA.
