Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) is endemic to Asia. HBV-associated HCC may occur in younger adults (20–40 years old) without cirrhosis because HBV may integrate into the host genome of hepatocytes and induce oncogenic changes.
