Metastatic breast cancer that was initially treated with chemotherapy. However, the tumors soon returned to their original size because of a mutation affecting β-tubulin disassembly, which is the mechanism of action of taxanes, such as paclitaxel. Notably, this is a slightly different mechanism of action of another common chemotherapeutic vincristine, which acts by preventing microtubule assembly.
