Celecoxib reduces the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis, but because it blocks cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) enzymes only, it causes minimal GI adverse effects compared with other NSAIDs. All NSAIDs cause vasoconstriction with a predilection to affect the renal afferent arteriole more than the efferent arteriole.
