Rupture of a small intraparenchymal vessels can result in hemorrhage within the brain, and is often associated with onset of neurologic symptoms. Symptoms of IPH usually appear suddenly. They include headache, weakness, confusion, and ipsilateral paralysis. The buildup of blood puts pressure on the brain and interferes with its oxygen supply, which can quickly cause brain and nerve damage.
