The Anopheles mosquito transmits the Plasmodiumspecies of protozoa, which are responsible for malaria. Malaria presents with fevers accompanied by headaches, sweats, malaise, and anemia (due to lysed RBCs), but not leukopenia. It should not cause skin discoloration and hepatosplenomegaly.
