Measles (rubeola) & German measles (rubella) – Viral exanthems whose maculopapular rashes begin on the head & neck & spread downward. Generalized lymphadenopathy, particular postauricular & occipital is more prominent in Rubella. In pregnant women they usually develop polyarthritis & polyarthralgia as a sequalae. Fetal infection with Rubella (within the 1st trimester) can cause sensorineural deafness, cataracts & cardiac malformations like PDA.
